About the work

Twin Suns is one of my entirely imagined landscapes. There is no real coastline behind it and no particular moment being recorded. The painting is built around two very different atmospheres occupying the same horizon, with warmth and cooler blue light meeting across the water rather than resolving into a single view.

That tension is what holds the painting together. It can suggest a change in weather, a shift in light, or simply a place caught between two states, but I have deliberately left the scene open enough for the viewer to bring their own reading to it.

The original

The original has a surface that is difficult to reproduce fully in print. Layers of paint remain visible across the sea and sky, with changes in texture, opacity and brushwork becoming more apparent as the light around the painting changes.

Its panoramic format gives the work a strong horizontal presence, while the low horizon keeps the composition open and expansive rather than dense.
